Human papillomavirus is a double-stranded, circular DNA virus enclosed in an icosahedral capsid and comprising 72 capsomers. More than 150 types of HPV have been identified. Certain types tend to occur at specific body sites. The diagnosis is made on the basis of clinical findings. Necessary procedures are: paring and biopsy.
