HPV Virus
The genital hpv virus strains are more than 30 in number and can be detected with a pap smear and colposcopy for locating and identifying the condyloma.
These types are called low risk because they are not associated with cervical cancer. Some cause genital warts and are types 6 and 11. They are identified with numbers and certain types are transmitted primarily through sexual contact. The Human Papilloma viruses are a group of more than 100 different types.

Colposcopy, Condyloma
Regular Pap smears will catch abnormal cervical cells before they become cervical cancer. Although many women infected with high risk HPVs don’t develop cervical cancer. Termed high risk because nearly all cervical cancers have tested with these types present. HPVs linked to cervical cancer are numbered 16,18, 30, and 33.
