HPV Test
An accurate hpv test such as the thin prep dna hpv test will diagnose genital strains present on the cervix but cannot detect verruca and vaginitis.
Vaginal or cervical cells obtained by Pap smear or biopsies that have the "characteristic appearance of HPV-infected cells” under the microscope is usually how HPV is diagnosed. Testing for Human Papilloma Virus is not routinely done so it is impossible to determine how long someone has had an infection.
