HPV 16 is a strain involved in genital infections generating vulvar vestibulitis for which LEEP procedure is one treatment method. Studies have shown that the Human Papilloma Virus is the primary cause of cancers of the cervix. Other more serious types of the genital strains of the virus are associated with cancer.
