Human Papillo Virus
The human papillo virus or HPV is the main reason for many disorders from ASCUS to cervical cancer.
In many cases, an infected person may be unaware of the disease, as there can be no overt symptoms. The germ can be rather dangerous, since it is blamed for almost all cases of cervical cancer in women. HPV is one of the most common causes of sexually transmitted infection in the world.

Monogamy, using condoms (condoms offer very little protection), and abstinence are the ways of prevention. HPV can grow on the cervix, vagina, vulva, urethra and the anus. There are over 90 strains of the virus, each having its own characteristics. About 30 of them are associated with growths in the genital area.
